Hi folks! Last minute update with three extra strings. The new version should be out soon, with many cool new features. I've made a test build for you to try out, with the locales downloaded from Babelzilla and enabled. Please DO try these out, as I won't test every single locale individually.

Cheers,

jonathan

The issue is with BabelZilla's online tranlation tool, when you write &amp; in the translation box, it changes to an & when saved. But if the file is downloaded and edited locally with a regular text editor and uploading it to BabelZilla the problem is solved. smile.gif

If you're using the &quot; it's saved correctly with the &quot; statement in the translated text files when using the online translation tool.

Best regards
Glenn

Glenn,

Thanks for the investigation. I'll try to get this fixed on the Babelzilla side. Many thanks for tracking the problem!

I've requested a new translation, because Goofy just told me that the right part of the quick reply was too narrow for French, and it might also be too narrow for other locales. So the width is now translatable.

I don't know if Mauro has already posted the Brazilian Portuguese description for install.rdf.
Anyway, here is it:

<em:localized>
<Description>
<em:locale>pt-BR</em:locale>
<em:name>Thunderbird Conversations</em:name>
<em:description>Agrupa seus emails em conversas, incluindo suas próprias mensagens, assim como no GMail.</em:description>
<em:translator>Marcelo Ghelman e Mauro José da Silva</em:translator>
</Description>
</em:localized>

Hi Jonathan.

I have a little issue for the Brazilian Portuguese translation.
The meFromSomeoneToMe item must translate differently according to the position on the recipient list.

If it's the first one, must appear like "Mim".
("mozjonathan to Me and Goofy" translates to "mozjonathan para Mim e Goofy")

In any other position, must appear like "Eu".
("mozjonathan to Goofy and Me" translates to "mozjonathan para Goofy e Eu")
("mozjonathan to Goofy, Me and Mauro" translates to "mozjonathan para Goofy, Eu e Mauro")

If you find a solution for that, please let me know by email.
I'm the pt-BR translator for more than a hundred extensions on Babelzilla, so I can't manage to keep up with the message boards for all of them.

Thanks a lot for this extension.

I agree with Ghelman: "mozjonathan para Goofy e Mim" sounds very odd in Brazilian Portuguese.

Maybe if Jonathan could change Thunderbird Conversations source code to always place "meFromSomeoneToMe" string right after "to" string, it would be an easier solution to implement.

I'm trying to test pt-BR translation with Thunderbird Conversations version 2.2, but the options dialog is not working. The following error message shows in error console:

CODE
Error: undefined entity
Source File: file:///C:/Users/.../gconversation@xulforum.org/chrome/content/options.xul
Line: 44, Column: 1
Source Code:
<prefwindow id="conversations-prefs"

It might be one of these two:

1. You encoded your translation in ANSI instead of UTF-8 (w/o BOM if possible).

2. One or more of the Portuguese special characters (á, ã, ç, ó, õ and ú) needs to be written as an XML/HTML entity.

CODE
á :  &#225;  or  &#xe1;  or  &aacute;
ã :  &#227;  or  &#xe3;  or  &atilde;
ç :  &#231;  or  &#xe7;  or  &ccedil;
ó :  &#243;  or  &#xf3;  or  &oacute;
õ :  &#245;  or  &#xf5;  or  &otilde;
ú :  &#250;  or  &#xfa;  or  &uacute;

These websites may be of some help:

  • Converter: Decimal, Hexadecimal Character Codes in HTML Unicode
  • FileFormat.Info
  • ASCII Character Map
  • JRX: Unicode Character Ranges

Lakrits, thank you for the heads up, but I'm afraid the problem is with the extension itself because that error occurs with en-US locale as well.
By the way, have you tested you locale with this new version? Does that error occur for you?

I just did, and you are right, the interface was all screwed up.

The calendar doesn't show.
The message view/folder view only shows the account information page, regardless of what postbox you click.
The Add-on tab doesn't show the icon for Thunderbird Conversations, and doesn't stop loading.
The "Help" menu in the menu bar doesn't show.
General unresponsiveness.

I had to restart in fail-safe mode to uninstall it.

Hi folks,

Sorry for the two updates in a row, I had forgotten one string. This will probably be pretty much what ends up in the 2.3 version. I managed to finish support for attachments in the quick reply area, so there shouldn't be any new strings before the release. I'll submit the addon to AMO one week before Thunderbird 11 is out so that the addon is ready for when Thunderbird 11 comes out.

Cheers,

jonathan

Just for the record, the tip you gave
"Use in combination with View > Message Body As > All Body Parts."
is not matching the submenu entry of the latest TB version (the last part of the breadcrumb is different)

Hi mozjonathan

I have joined the Danish localization team for Thunderbird Conversations . I always test my work, but I in this case I have a minor problem. I can't find the string 'preview' from the file 'template.properties' anywhere in the UI. Could you tell me how to find it?

Is content/pdfviewer/viewer.html localizable?
I don't think I had translated these strings.
