hello dear translator friends smile.gif

You probably know what an etherpad is and how useful it is for every kind of online real-time collaborative work.
(if you don't know exactly, have a look here and enjoy http://beta.etherpad.org/p/babelzilla)
the Etherpad Foundation http://etherpad.org/2011/08/22/major-relea...herpad-lite-v1/ has just released a first major version of Etherpad Lite, which is a version with most of the code now in JavaScript
Now it's time for translators to add their contribution to this beautiful application.

Here below is attached is a zipped file containing two kinds of files

1. one .txt file in which you have just to replace 3 English strings with 3 strings in your language
2. three .JSON files where all you have to do is to write your translation on the right, respecting quotes. The file shows a first version with German language, replace German by your own language ;-) and keep everything else untouched

eg.
"Show connected users":"Zeige verbundene Benutzer",
becomes
"Show connected users":"Afficher les utilisateurs connectés",
for French.

As always, stick to UTF-8 wink.gif

I think we should do the languages french, spanish, arabic. We shouldn't do more cause we're still changing the interface very fast, maybe later.

If you are indulging in this rather easy work, please attach your zipped lang files with a post here in reply smile.gif
They will be ported to the development github.

--------------an here is the French version btw

I found a typo in pad.json, row 53:

"You're password was wrong" should be "Your password was wrong" (or "Your password was incorrect").

Better yet: “Incorrect password”

Yes, but I didn't want to make the author sad ;)

Ach so. Dann werde ich nicht über seine Englisch beschweren. (Traduction pour Goofy: Ah bien. Dans ce cas, je n'ai pas se plaindre de son anglais.)

Hi guys,
where should I put locales files/dirs in my local installation of etherpar lite? Do I need to configure something else?

Thanks in advance!

Hello
I am very sorry to tell you that the first implementation of a correct localization has been delayed and finally abandoned by the dev team :s
to the point that we on the French side decided to make our own French version, unfortunately translating hardcoded strings instead of having them in regular separate files.
here is our fork https://github.com/framasoft/etherpad-lite
and resource is http://lite.framapad.org/

I suggest we should all request to the main dev team they implement a proper i18n mechanism as was done one year ago
https://github.com/Pita/etherpad-lite/issues/114
Unfortunately I am no coder so there is nothing I can do on this isuue apart from requesting.
