Hi, folks. I'm kind of new on this forum, so please excuse my ignorance in Spicebird. I disovered Spicebird a few months ago and i'm using the portable version since then. I would like to translate Spicebird to romanian (as in Romania-not as rromanes or rroma a.k.a the gipsy language). So, i downloaded the language pack extension and installed (at least that was my intention) to Spicebird using Tools menu->Add-ons. Guess what, a message appears telling me that the extension is incompatible with Spicebird!?! Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!
I see lots of people finishing various translation but i just don't know where and how to begin such task. Help please!

Hey you are very welcomeani.gif here!

To translate spicebird langpack, you must
1. send a common PM to both Fenian and sunilmohan telling them about your intentions so that they fill the Romanian files of the wts with the last thunderbird/calendar ro-RO files (they are part of the Spicebird langpack, so it spares you a heavy work)
2. register on the WTS and translate... I suggest you should call other Romanian contributors to help, it is much recommended to work as a small team.

For information, the langpack as available on the wts cannot be installed directly in Spicebird, sunilmohan will tell you what to do if you want to test an use smile.gif

Hi,

Welcome to the Spicebird/BabelZilla community. As goofy mentioned, you can send a private message to Fenian who will fill the strings from Thunderbird and Lightning. After that you can start the traslation on Babelzilla.

Also, as we are in a transition phase to newer version of Thunderbird, I would ask you to first concentrate on files in the collab/ directory.

No language packs are available for Spicebird Beta 0.4. The languages packs available are for the upcoming 0.7 version and they work with Spicebird Beta 0.7pre release nightly builds which are meant for testing. Nightly builds are available here for Windows, GNU/Linux 32bit and 64bit: http://files.spicebird.org/pub/spicebird.o...cebird/nightly/

In the mean time I required the QA on Mozilla, since in the past the same request was made on Extenzilla and Luca (l0stintranslation) told me to start the QA there. However, I have been required to answer two questions for which I don't know the answers.
2- is it possible to extract the phrases created for Spicebird and that have no correspondence with the other Mozilla programs?

I hop that Goofy or Sunhil can help me. WIthout these information the QA cannot start. please.gif
Thanks.

If you come across any bugs in Spicebird code/builds/i18n you can file a bug in the Spicebird bugzilla. I usually watch all bug activity and I will try to fix them as quickly as possible.

Yes, there is strict separation between Spicebird strings and rest of Mozilla strings. Only strings in the "collab/" directory belong to Spicebird and they belong exclusively. All the rest of the directories are Thunderbird/Lightning/Platform strings and they are kept in perfect order as in upstream.

If you have made any changes in non-Spicebird directories, you can easily contribute your changes to Thunderbird and Lightning project.

Sorry but my previous post was incomplete. The first question was if the phrases are regularly updated with the corresponding phrases of Mozilla programs. This is necessary in order to keep TB and SB aligned in the future. If I understood well, however, this is done, so there should be no problems.

Yes the rest of the strings (pertaining to Thunderbird, Sunbird...) is very regularly automatically updated as Sunil mentions smile.gif

So the only thing that you could point to Flod is the collab subdirectory, the only one with Spiebird specifics.

Yes, as Goofy said, we do sync with upstream Mozilla strings. Currently, we are doing it like the source code. We get all the Thunderbird strings from the same date as Thundebird release which was 3.0 Alpha 2 for 0.7 release. We could also merge translations from latest trunk if required.

So, if Thunderbird is translated, Spicebird will benefit from it. If the translator changes a Thunderbirg string in BabelZilla, it will be retained and given priority over Thunderbird translation.

Sunil, I think that, for the common strings, it is always better to use the "official" Mozilla version. For example, in Sunbird there are some strings that have to be corrected (maybe they have, but they must still be transferred to the official downloadable version). I changed them in Sunbird but I am not sure that my version is exactly that chosen by Sunbird people. So, if my strings will have the precedence, we will lose all the work made for Sunbird.

By the way, we made a first check of the translation. Changes have been applied to a lot of files, but I was not able to find them in the /latest-trunk-l10n/linux-xpi/ folder. Can you prepare a new XPI file to be tested directly on the program?
Thanks.

The first test of the translation is finished and all the required corrections have been transferred to the WTS files. I need to know if it is possible to have a new XPI file to be used to check the translation directly on Spicebird. I also want to stress the fact that the common strings msut be kept updated whit those coming from the official translations made for Mozilla programs. The same as been required in the corresponding Mozilla forum discussion about Sunbird translation.
As soon as the XPI is ready for test, I will check it and eventually I will release officially the translation.

Hi,

I will update the Spicebird l10n trunk with latest Babelzilla translation by evening. Tomorrows nightly builds will contain xpis that are up-to-date with the work you have done on Babelzilla. You can use these xpis to test with the nightly builds of Spicebird Beta 0.8pre.

As for a release, we will not be able release updated 0.7 again for Italian (because of effort in building for all platforms, sanity testing etc.). However, in a few days there will be a code freeze for Spicebird Beta 0.7.1, a bug fix release, and hopefully by the ending of the month, we shall have Spicebird Beta 0.7.1 out. We shall have an updated release of Italian and all other localisations along with en-US release. I hope this plan is OK with you as the release is near.

I will get the latest localizations from Mozilla upstream and overwrite them with the changes you have done for Spicebird. In future, please update the Mozilla trunk localizations and simply request for sync in Spicebird. I will also remove the Babelzilla strings that you have changed for Mozilla strings, so as to reflect what is available in Spicebird svn repository and Mozilla upstream. I guess this is want you are looking for.

However, when a translator makes changes in translations of Mozilla strings in Babelzilla (everything outside the collab/ directory), I will continue to assume that he/she is wanting to explictly overwrite Mozilla strings for the sake of Spicebird. Exceptions can always be requested and dealt with. I think this is the best plan.

I have synced the strings from BabelZilla to Spicebird SVN. I didn't yet get the latest strings from Mozilla l10n repository. I hope to do it in a couple of days.

I could not find any updates to Italian translation of Mozilla calendar strings done recently. What am I missing?

You can’t do it yourself, just send a PM to the translator asking to add you to the list wink.gif

Spicebird: Beyond 0.8
By prasad | June 23, 2010

The Spicebird project started more than two years ago and then had a decently well planned Roadmap. However, a lot has changed in the last couple of years and I think its time to re-think the next steps - this time we hope to involve the community in helping us decide what is important and what isn’t.

Here is a list of things that we have been thinking about

Rare and strange: with a rare name (usually blue, but at the same time may also be gold elite), it is difficult to find, but to get rid of, there is often a special surprise, because fixed and affixes equipment, regardless of the blue-loaded or yellow equipment, are to the edge, in fact, is the best SP produced strange fortune depends on it.
Open the list of your accomplishments, an achievement which lists the most rare and strange, but not all!
In addition, rare and strange fall the best equipment is not 100% drop, but if you want, you could do nothing but find them, <a href="http://www.goldwto.com/runescape_gold.html">rs gold</a> because they can. If you encounter, but you can not beat , please hurry to invite your friends list into your game together to engage it, and to drop more than a goodly portion of luck, but also a way of getting money to the Friends of the base!
Daobao Wizard: Drop equipped with everything falling energy saving in this chapter, in addition to rare and strange part of falling!
Drop the game settings, through research nethack (known as the originator of the Diablo setting items randomly drop) settings, <a href="http://www.goldwto.com/blade_and_soul_gold.html">blade and soul gold</a> in fact, a setting is as follows:
Rare and strange list of rare and strange list: this figure may be possible, each unique drop list of rare and strange, usually the main producing strange Need rings and necklaces;
Blue strange list: this picture ordinary strange, it may appear strange blue, just blue strange installed it must be out of the blue, drop list is the list of the world fall in each of the sections that, that does not beyond the the chapter drop the other chapters will be out equipment. (FARM A1 friend Note, A4 was a good blue-loaded, drag a drag the corpse into the A4.)
3 golden elite list: mainly <a href="http://www.goldwto.com/wow_gold.html">wow gold</a> used to increase this figure a bit of a challenge and entertainment, to be honest, not farm their significance, and this strange basically impossible to be done FARM their fall list and blue The strange world drop, as limited by chapter, but the yellow loading a relatively high probability it wants.
So, I'll give you advice:
Careful and meticulous to a certain figure, the difficulty is not great, you can complete single FARM again, all the blame, all the stones, all the local touch it again, and then reset it again, and so forth NNNN times and times, you can put this figure there might be rare and strange touch, we also know this "specialty".
Another supplement on suits and legendary equipment drop set: part of the world falling, broken jar and trash mobs and the like can be a goodly portion of luck, but the mobs die so much, the opportunity is always there; portion of the fixed BOSS out drop, multi-brush it, the opportunity is always there, after all, is fixed drop FARM when a lot of bad street but in the end is inevitable; part fall by rare and strange, the same can not be met seeking to encourage you and diligent traveled to every corner of the map; also part of falling exists only in the advanced chest, face.
About rare and strange location: each figure with surface and underground (cave) in two parts, this strange wandering the entire surface of each figure, that might be buried in the ground, but mainly present in the underground; each figure has a fixed number of underground cave spawn points, and each picture to refresh the total number of points is fixed, but each time the refresh only a few points, to refresh a few point and which point to refresh are random; Members diligent little more effort, run a race map, summarize the law, there will always be the outcome! ! ! ! !
Random number paradox: while the computer is set between 1-100 random samples of any single chance, from long statistical point of view, are the same, but in a short period of time during the actual operation, you extracted to a 1 and 100 chance is very small; the improved random numbers, often using double-random number divided by the ratio rounded, for example, taken from 1-100 where two duplicate number, and then divided by 2 rounded .
Refer to the above extract random set model of random numbers, each picture looks much spawn points, but a subset of locations and 1 or 100 is actually more difficult to be able to get from another point of view, mean that other spawn points easily be able to get refreshed, this rule can be found by summing.
My last most important conclusion: Some rare and strange appears only in the rare spawn points, this setting is also normal, everyone can sum up, there is always the law to be investigated!
