Yes I have pretty much taken over this extension. Good things are happening to it at the moment smile.gif

Got a lot of functionality added and completely revamped the mozdev support site:

http://zombiekeys.mozdev.org/index.html

Also re-dit the layouts for QuickPasswords and QuickFolders rockon.gif

its a beauty smile.gif

cheers, Axel

Hi!

In the menu.dtd file, some strings are displayed incorrectly by Babelzilla, IMHO. For example:
zk.menuitem.overdot
? c e I ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? z CTRL+SHIFT+. , the key

I'm sure these question marks should not be there...

The list of the incorrect strings:
zk.menuitem.cedilla
zk.menuitem.breve
zk.menuitem.ogonek
zk.menuitem.macron
zk.menuitem.overdot
zk.menuitem.underdot
zk.menuitem.doubleacute

It is not the display in BabelZilla that causes this, the strings are incorrect in the source file in the xpi as well. The WTS simply displays what’s in the en-US file.
@RealRaven, I suppose this is something for you to fix. Uploading a corrected menu.dtd to the en-US locale will suffice wink.gif

Are you sure about this? They work in my english Locale - is it the File Format?

Anyway we shoujld not worry too much as I think I will have to put them together as "atoms" anyway - the key combinations will differ for each keyboard locale. AS one set of shortcuts that makes sense on an English keyboard might not be possible on an Icelandic one. As long as I have a translations for
SHIFT
CONTROL (CTRL)
ALT
and
[followed by] "the key"

I think I can pretty much put everything else together. In your opinion, how useful will the newly added keyboard shortcuts be? Is there anything vitally important (for eastern languages) that I have missed??

Yes; they may work in the locale (have not tested) but a lot of ‘?’ characters are displayed in the WTS and in the file. File format is UNIX/UTF-8, so that is OK. I have attached the file in question for completeness.

Hi,

I have just uploaded a new beta version with fixed strings.

IMPORTANT: please leave at least 2 consecutive spaces on the menu items with key combos between special character and shortcuts. the shortcuts and ", the key" are removed and re-added dynamically as they are keyboard layout specific. I am searching for the last 2 spaces and cut off everything else!

E.g.:
CODE
<!ENTITY zk.menuitem.cedilla "ç ḑ Ä¢ Ä· ņ Å— ÅŸ Å£ CTRL+SHIFT+> , клавиша">
I search for " " (2 spaces) before the CTRL, then cut off and add the language specfic stuff, like this:

1. "ç ḑ Ä¢ Ä· ņ Å— ÅŸ Å£ CTRL+SHIFT+> , клавиша"
2. "ç ḑ Ä¢ Ä· ņ Å— ÅŸ Å£ "
3. "ç ḑ Ä¢ Ä· ņ Å— ÅŸ Å£ " + "STRG + SHIFT + > , den Buchstaben"

Result: "ç ḑ Ä¢ Ä· ņ Å— ÅŸ Å£ STRG + SHIFT + > , den Buchstaben"

If you do not leave the (at least) 2 spaces in, the shortcuts will COME OUT WRONG

Short cuts are _NOT_ hardcoded in menu.dtd.

All, I have removed the shortcut part for all menu entities that list combie keys, such as zk.menuitem.grave; so there is no need to translate any of them anymore. However, please make sure that you use the localized versions for

extensions.zombiekeys.modifier.shiftKey
extensions.zombiekeys.modifier.altKey
extensions.zombiekeys.modifier.controlKey

just a look at your keyboards will tell you!

thanks
Axel

Brazilian Portuguese (pt-BR) translation is done.

But I've noticed a little typo in en-US locale:
File: zombiekeys.properties
String: extensions.zombiekeys.howToUse
(...) The menu on the button ist just for illustration (...)

Obviously, it should be "it" instead of "ist" .

Besides, it seems that the tooltips in Options dialog are not working, even when switched to en-US locale.

And the Options dialog should have title a like "Zombie Keys Options" and not simply "Options", don't you think?

Do you mean we don't have to translate the entities below anymore?
  • zk.menuitem.grave
  • zk.menuitem.acute
  • zk.menuitem.circumFlex
  • zk.menuitem.tilde
  • zk.menuitem.umlaut
  • zk.menuitem.ring
  • zk.menuitem.sharps_ae_oe
  • zk.menuitem.stroke
  • zk.menuitem.caron
  • zk.menuitem.cedilla
  • zk.menuitem.breve
  • zk.menuitem.ogonek
  • zk.menuitem.macron
  • zk.menuitem.overdot
  • zk.menuitem.underdot
  • zk.menuitem.circled
  • zk.menuitem.doubleacute
  • zk.menuitem.invQuestion
  • zk.menuitem.invExclaim
  • zk.menuitem.euro

If so, why you don't removed them from "locale/menu.dtd" file? Maybe they should by placed in a file in "content" folder.

Besides, the following line you've added to "menu.dtd" is lost when you download that file from WTS.
CODE
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

HI I have done exactly that (no you do not need to translate them anymore, thank god) and moved these into a special file "keys.dtd" in the content folder. I am leaving in the encoding line, just in case; I have seen both Babelzilla and the Mozilla integration code guessing the wrong encoding from the file content, and I want to avoid this happening at all costs.

Just a heads up there are 2 new keyboard layouts in preparation.

1. Swedish layout:

2. Russian layout:

they're both still very much WIP but we're getting closer to the final thing...
thanks to the help from Mikael Hiort af Ornäs and Anton Pinsky we have already covered most of the necessary ground. Russian will special in that it hopefully will support the russian native mode (with kyrillic keys) and the English mode at the same time.I have already added support for cyrillian vocals, still need to figure out all the consonants... closedeyes.gif

I am attaching the latest test version 2.8.1 preRelease 9 for those of you who are interested!
