Hi, I am the zh-TW translator.

I have one problem...

The entries "pageNumberDescription" and "feedsUpdateAlertText" in "brief.properties", in my country, we are used to writing "%S of Page %S" and "in %S feeds %S new entries". But, there is only one variable "%S", so I can't do that(changing order of the variable).

Could you tell me how to do that? thanks in advance.

And here's a feature request, isn't it possible to star entries of feeds automatically? (I view feeds by Thunderbird, because I can first read more important entries by using folders and the filter.)

You can't unless I make it %1$S and %2$S, so you are able to rearrange the order of parameters. I should have thought about it, sorry. Is this something that makes localizing in your language impossible or can you find some way around that (in which case the fix can wait till the next release)?

Ugh. It's certainly possible with my extension's framework but it's a pretty advanced use case. I want to keep Brief relatively simple and light-weight, so I'm not going to implement such functionality, at least no at the moment. Sorry.

I made them as "Page %S (of %S)", and this is also understood by people. But I still hope you could update for this.(not hurry)

French (fr-FR) translation is finished, I just wait that some other French Babelzillians check it.

I would also have 2 small features propositions...

1. To add some tooltips in the extension, particularly on the toolbar button.
2. To add accesskeys ! There isn't any in the whole extension !

There is trouble with JavaScript in this extension (somebody told me).

If I installed the extension "NoScript", or disabled JavaScript, Brief will not work correctly. It will not show comments.

And, this is a good extension (said by the people in the forum which I surf. ).

Hi, i just registered for your extension so it's far from being ready but i noticed a tiny problem allready :
The string for the entity checkForUpdatesAfter.label (minutes) is in plural, something that doesn't look good in Greek if the user defines 1 minute.
There's a common workaround that we use for it, it's aplicable and i've allready used it but i thought i should mention it for future versions.

First one is feature request, some one needs opening original page in new tab when clicking the title of the entry.

Second is character encoding wrong when Brief reads the feeds, like this. (www.dcview.com.tw = big5 encode)

If it was just for Greek it would be ok, but since it's a problem for all the languages i think that it DOES worth the trouble to fix it.

My point is that it's a pretty common situation. You can see it in Firefox's options window as well in the Privacy tab. Have you ever seen "minutes" dynamically changing to "minute" when you type "1" in the textbox in any application? I haven't.

It's grammatically incorrect but it's totally acceptable and understandable for the user, I honestly don't think it bothers anyone.

Of course, this is true but if we can use an alternative, why not

In this case, if obviously you like this proposal (since this is only a proposal!), you could replace the two entities

<!ENTITY checkForUpdatesBefore.label "Check feeds for updates every">
<!ENTITY checkForUpdatesAfter.label "minutes">

with only one entity like:

<!ENTITY checkForUpdates.label "Period of time after which to check for updates (in minutes): (1 or 10 or 100!)

(Please forgive my bad tech and not tech English)
Well, probably there are better and more tech/appropriate words, but IMHO this could be a good 'alternative'!



BTW, there is a different situation inherent to the alert of the new entries : as you can see in the image there is a 'problem' with the plural (nuovi elementi) although there is only a new entry (1 nuovo elemento)...
Of course, in this case a probable compromise could be something like "Nuovi elementi in %S feed: (number of new entries)", and in Italian language this would be correct since English invariable words don't have the 's' of the plural, and therefore the word 'feed' in Italian language is both singular and plural.
But I guess not all languages have the same 'rule', and above all in the English language you can't apply this!

So, in this case, could you please create another variable for the plural?
Singular: New entries in %S feeds in % Feed: (number of new entries)
Plural: New entries in %S feeds: (number of new entries)
Well, is not a really wonderful solution, but IMHO also this one could be a good 'alternative'!
