With downloaded extension the Hungarian locale description works OK.
But if I download the hu-HU locale from BZ, the description is back english. I have tested the extension in Portable Firefox. This problem is for all locales. I think, that the problem is in en-US locale. I make translations with editor UniRed. In this editor: The en-US main.properties file is saved in cp-1250 with unicode representation \uxxx. If the translator upload the file, the file is in UTF-8 (BOM) with \uxxx representation. You can view something like this: extensions.newtaburl@sogame.cat.description=... The problem is the first 3 character showed (just in VIEW). The Firefox so can't read the line - the description isn't showed correctly. I think the problem can correcting with uploading the en-US main.properties file like this: (or upload the extension one more time with this file.) ???????

Just one:
The english locale is OK: the description is readed from install.rdf file. (all locale description is replaced with this description from rdf file) @Goofy If the en-US locale file is in wrong format, the uploaded locale file is in this format too? |

Hi, I've been testing around with many encodings (UTF with and without BOM, DOS, UNIX) and couldn't find the problem :-(
All my extensions use the same way to localize its description... Finally, I've downloaded the extension from BabelZilla, installed it in a new Firefox profile, and the Hungarian locale worked correctly (I haven't test it in French). Please, try to remove NewTabURL, restart Firefox and install it again. If it still doesn't work, try to create a new profile and install it there, so see if it's a problem with NewTabURL or with Firefox... :-( -------------------- |

I see, that You upload the new version into Your homepage. The Hungarian description works OK (the hu-HU locale files are what I send you as attachment). I'm sure, that some other locale descriptions works not. |

I think the BOM  code you have found has been imported on upload and copied in every locale, and left untouched by the WTS. Just my 2 eurocents.
