When I created my Saved Passwords Button extension I hadn't heard of BabelZilla and included some machine translations of the strings figuring that that was better than nothing. These then were included when I uploaded my extension to BabelZilla.

What is the best approach to removing these translations so that they don't show in BabelZilla as completed and can get some human attention?

Thanks for your help,
Adam

We can remove the locales manually from the database, after that you need to upload an updated xpi without the locales in it (also remove the locale reference in install.rdf and chrome.manifest), and they will be physically gone. If you would like to have a ‘real’ translator after that, just post a request for one in the respective forums. wink.gif

Thanks, should I wait to hear back on the database deletion before uploading the fixed xpi?

Also, is it considered good or bad practice to include machine translations in releases addons.mozilla.org if human translations are unavailable?

Thanks again for your help,
Adam

afaik there is no real "translation quality" check in AMO review criteria, though these last years they tend to put the emphasis on the highly recommended locale support. We can see from time to time awful machine-translated material released on AMO. Obviously it tends to convey a quite bad image of the extension, whatever smartly coded it can be.

I removed the strings from fr, it, ja, pt-PT, and ru, but I kept the locales because I'm sure you'll find some new translators for them.
