Hi there,

I uploaded my fgPrinters extension yesterday. At this point, there were 6 locales, including ca-ES. Unfortunately, this one is not recognized by the WTS. So in the extension overview, it is not listed. I only found a way to add ca-AD, but not ca-ES, although Xavi Montero pointed out it is listed on http://babelwiki.babelzilla.org/index.php?...=Language_codes.

Is this a bug or a feature?!

That list is of all existing locales not ones supported by BabelZilla. ca-ES is not currently supported here.

@fgrassmann we could add ca-ES if you wish, and even ca-FR, but is it worth doing it really? I am perfectly aware Catalan is a vivid language on its own, but I don't know if regional variants of this language deserve special translation (?)

actually, I do not know. ;-) I just checked Sunbirds locales - but there, Catalan is listed as a seperate language (without an extension for the country). So I do not know what would be the "right" locale. I - from what I learned - don't think that a special translation is needed, either. I just want to set the "right" locale in my extension. So that would be ca-AD?!

I suggest you should have a discussion with SoftCatalà people (well maybe you are one of them) especially xavivars (who is translating here right from the beginning) and the famous Toniher. Just decide together and tell us what we should have it for Catalan.

For Mozilla products (Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird,....), all Catalan translations have "ca" locale, without a country identifier, but I think you told me that Babelzilla couldn't manage locales like "aa", only "aa-BB", so we decided to use ca-AD (from Andorra), which was the old Catalan locale for Mozilla products.

But at the moment, you can use the locale you want: if the Mozilla product doesn't find it exactle, it looks for another locale for the same language; that is, if the extension has ca-AD, and Firefox "ca", Firefox will use ca-AD locale from the extension without problem ;)

Yes. That's the best option if plain 'ca' cannot be used. ca-AD is still used in SeaMonkey 1.1.x. Linguistically speaking there is no difference between ca-ES and ca-AD. It was simply chosen for avoiding clashes with regional packs (still in SeaMonkey) when users had both Spanish and Catalan langpacks installed.
