I've had bad experiences with it: I received files translated with it and the content of the files was completely shaked.

I used Mozilla Translator for the translation of Nvu and it worked fine till the old structure was used(v 0.6). When Nvu became based on the Firefox 1.0 code(0.7), translating witch Mozilla Translator only worked with CVS directories. This made the work take a lot of time, and since that time I use a diff-tool and edit the changed text files myself.
Translating extensions is a lot simpler dan translation Nvu, but i don't like it very much. I still you diff. BTW, I shall also contribute my list: Of course I juse 7-zip, but combined with Notepad2. A very small editor, but with powerfull options. I use CSDiff to compare directories for changes. Besides this functionality, I also like the way the changes are shown. You see exactly which characters have been removed/added, not just a red/green row (screenshot) A great Diff-tool for Linux which can compare directories is Meld. -------------------- Translator for Nvu and several Firefox extensions into Dutch

if every author can use public cvs(or svn), we'll not required previous version to compare so it'll be much useful. now we need compare each new English sentence and old translated sentence. |

mt is usually used for translate program interfaces as Firefox, Thunderbird etc. etc. where there are several line of translations.
Since extensions are much shorter, using mt to translate them would keep longer time than a text editor -------------------- |

In fact, the lines were shaked, so the first line became the third, the second one became the first,... CSDiff makes it easier to see the changes between two lines, but I still prefer WinMerge. What's very easy with it is its integration with the explorer which makes it possible to compare two files or folders via the context menu. And it's opensource and localized! |

For editing files: MS Word 2000 on W2K
For translation memory: Wordfast 5.x If there are any other translators using Wordfast, let me know and we can talk about tagging strategies. (I just need to find a tool that can convert MS Word's silly "Unicode" (which AFAIK is UTF-7) into proper UTF-8 (it must be a bulk conversion tool, not one by one -- I can do that, using Notepad on W2K already).) OmegaT: OmegaT can handle java.properties files natively. For DTD files, OmegaT will have to be tweaked... if anyone is interested in trying it, let me know and we can fiddle with OmegaT's segmentation settings. -------------------- |

Yep I am a 7zip addict too, but I prefer PsPad, because there is never one B.O.M inserted without your consent as it may happen with other editors such as Scyte or (maybe) Notepad++.
