Don't know that either, maybe the nicest thing in this case would be that the locale names are in their own language? Or maybe just like this. It is after all a tool especially for translators/developers. Not for 'normal' users. They could better use Locale Switcher 0.3 (which is almost the same, but only works for the language packs you have actually installed with Firefox).

Good extension ! I confirm that it works fine with language packs. Well it could interesting to have a popup which says that, if a language is not installed, it will not change the language, no ??? The extension Locale Switcher (wich doesn't need any locale) has be updated (to be compatible with TB and Nvu) by myself and is now at the french site : http://extensions.geckozone.org/LocaleSwitcher The only difference is that Locale Switcher displays only the languages installed (by a pack or either...) but don't remove the name of the language if you uninstall a pack... Well.. if somebody knows how to do... mail me

This is THE big difference between "Quick Locale Switcher" and "Locale Switcher". Quick Locale Switcher is just meant for translators/developer to easy switch the general.useragent.locale preference so they can see if the extension has been translated ok. So most of the time, the user will not have installed the complete language pack for the selected locale, just some extension. I for instance only have an English Firefox installed, but I do want to be able to easyly switch to Dutch to see if my own translation looks good. Locale Switcher is more for the multilingual users who actually want to use Ff/TB/NVU in a different language. It's right that is very comfortable to switch quickly between locales to check the extension. And it's right too that it is a very new extension, isn't it ? Mea Culpa and long life to this extension !

Hi Captain
Your extension is great ! ... but (there is always a "but" ) :With french builds, default general.useragent.locale value is fr and not fr-FR, thus none item in QLS menu is checked. I made a little hack to resolve that (see attached file). In this file, I also made some changes : - Replace prompt title by label (instead of statustext) - Create a manifest.chrome file (just for test) : => no more contents.rdf => install.rdf shorter But => works only with Firefox 1.0+ and later Please, tell me what you (and the others) think about these changes. Thanks in advance. PS: Wich compression tools do you use ? My zip files are bigger than yours attached file removed (useless now) |
