Ronny
I have finished and tested Spanish locale, but found some problem with WTS upload and cannot translate one string (ac-btf.settings.loaderr in ac-btf_str.properties) - really I can translate it but when saving or uploading WTS seems to reject the Spanish string and put again the English one.

I think that the same problem has appeared with other locales (Polish).

Anyway, while we find what is happening in WTS, you can get the Spanish locale from the attachment (I modified it in my PC and tested it, it is OK), but not yet from WTS.

@urko Would you please try different tests just to know us to understand what is happening ?

1. Fill the ac-btf.settings.loaderr entity with the english text. Save the whole file, then make a further chek to see if it is already there

2. Fill the ac-btf.settings.loaderr with a spanish "flat" version without the special spanish characters, and see if it saved ok

3. Copy-paste her the "good" spanish translation for the sentence, so that we may see if anything is wrong.

- in any case, be very careful with the special separators for javascript that must be kept "as they are" in your translation

Thanks in adavance smile.gif

Hi Goofy,
sorry for not giving more details in the previous post, I wanted to try a couple of additional tests:
1) If I introduce any text (i.e. aaaa) for this string, after saving and editing the string is empty in WTS GUI. I downloaded the translated file (ac-btf_str.properties) and checked that the string was still in English in the file.
2) I edited the file in my PC, modified the string, loaded the file in the extension XPI file and tested in Firefox: OK. Then uploaded ac-btf_str.properties to WTS, edited and ... the string was empty in the WTS Spanish GUI (in order to make sure, I downloaded the file and checked that the string was still in English).
3) I deleted the variable and the translation in the file in my PC and typed them again (just in case some hidden character or similar). Tested in Firefox: OK, uploaded in WTS: same result that case 2.
4) I downloaded the en-US ac-btf_str.properties, and then uploaded it in WTS (like Spanish file). I edited it and saw in the WTS GUI the string in English but not empty (I thought: good, we are improving). Then translated to Spanish all the strings and saved. When editing again, the string was empty (in WTS GUI). Uploaded then the real Spanish locale from my PC and found that now according to WTS I have 6 (instead of 5) strings in the file, although I can only see 5. I downloaded the file and checked in my PC: only 5 strings. And now every time I try to modify the string, the English string appears again in WTS GUI (instead of empty string like before). surprise.gif

Two (possible) clues:
BMB extension has the same variable with the same text, I have translated it in WTS without any problem.
I have checked Polish locale for this extension (AB&HF) currently in progress (97%). There is only a string not translated yet in WTS: ac-btf.settings.loaderr in ac-btf_str.properties!

I hope my explanation even if a bit long, will be understandable.

EDITED: UPDATE
After this post I made a try: extracted again en-US ac-btf_str.properties file from original XPI, translated it to Spanish and uploaded in WTS. Editing the file in WTS I could see in WTS GUI variable ac-btf.settings.loaderr twice: in Spanish and in English. Then I deleted English string, saved and edited again: Now I can see in WTS GUI ac-btf.settings.loaderr three times: in English, Spanish and empty, you can see it by yourself (I do not find any smilie able to express my feelings). At this moment I decided not to try any further test by myself because I am afraid I will provoke some disaster. I am looking forward to new instructions.

Try to use UTF-8 with BOM (byte order mask).
Although Firefox 1.0 does not like UTF-8 with BOM, I can remove it before creating the final XPI.

Maybe it works if you switch back to UTF-8 without BOM after you've uploaded the version with BOM. unsure.gif

p.s.
Goofy, is it possible to rename my extension in WTS? The part before the & (incl. the &) is truncated.

Yes you can do it, as far as you don't change the guid.
You have to re-upload the whole xpi (will be recognized as an update because same id number), but please pay attention to this :

> Be careful to download all existing locales first (one single archive file) then insert all them in your xpi before submitting again. Otherwise translator's works will be lost.

dry.gif @urko : thank you so much for such a painful experience.
I am currently trying myself not to solve but just to undertand this mystery by making various errors laugh.gif .

(I first suspected the final \n were responsible for something, but it seems they are not. I also noticed the italian version is Ok without apparent prob on the same string... I try and check.)

dry.gif I encounter the same probs as urko with the french locale. Once translated or even filled with whatever, even abcdef, you save it. then you edit it, and there is a blank void yellow-background zone. ranting2.gif

I am trying different things now. dry.gif

[EDIT] No result up to now. I will just make a bug report as precise as possible sad.gif

--another thing :
In the dtd file, there is this english string :
CODE
Show "Close/Open all" toolbar

It is strongly recommended NOT to use quotation marks in your translation.
Entities don't like (nested) quotation marks laugh.gif
I suggest you use
CODE
Show 'Close/Open all' toolbar
(it is not sure that " will do it, because the wts converts it in quotation marks and it gives errors all the same once in the extension

I only want to rename it here in WTS!
The extensions name is "Autoclose Bookmark&History Folders", but in WTS it's named only "History Folders".

Oh you mean you did not make the change name yet yourself ? blink.gif
I thought you did it... But now we are on some kind of interesting thing... The WTS trimmed the extension name, most likely because of the & ranting2.gif character... and it is possibly an explanation for the one-rebel string issue dry.gif smile.gif which is in the 1st position in the file.
(I am no coder... what do you think of this idea ?)

For the " thing I think the wts changes it automatically in " " , but I must check if there is an output issue when you repackage and test.

I've only changed the topic of this thread wink.gif
actually I use & in the extensions install.rdf and contents.rdf

I don't think so
the 2nd one uses the same special characters and it works there

right, it displays the HTML entitys as what they are - & to & and so on, but it should not do that (IMHO)

AlleyKat and Alberto, I'm sorry about the "restart" but the translators string is not required anymore (I simply forgot to update this file too blush.gif).

I've attached the translated files of the previous version (0.5.5), which should save time for the translation.

changes in .properties:
 • removed translators

changes in .dtd:
 • added new ac-btf.settings.option5
 • added new ac-btf.settings.option5.1
 • added new ac-btf.settings.option5.2
 • added new ac-btf.settings.option5.3
 • added new ac-btf.settings.option5.4

Thanks to all translators. smile.gif
