I guess that is not the answer he is looking for smile.gif
I've tried to contact the authors as well about it but i haven't got a reply yet..
though those files were translated allready, they are not implemented in the latest update..
so, i guess most localised versions contain english help files.

Hi, folks!
Version 0997 available for localization.
From now on the help will be only in English: the translations will be hosted on our website. We've saved the already submitted helps and they will be made available on line as soon as possible. From now on send them to translators at downthemall.net.

Please note that about.dtd should contain YOUR name and the name of YOUR language, and not the translation of "english" in your language smile.gif

Thanks everybody,
Federico.

Spanish (es-ES) locales tested and released.

One suggestion: in the current help window perhaps it would be better either linking to each individual localized help file in your web site (it would be a help working only online) so the user would see his/her language help, or at least modify the current link (This page in your language? Check out DownThemAll website!) using

http://www.downthemall.net/howto/howto/ (links to language selection in your web site)

instead of the current link

http://www.downthemall.net/ (your website homepage)

I agree with urko. But I think it is even better to integrate the translated help-files into the extension itself. If I put the dutch help-files into the folder: chrome/dta.jar/content/help, the translated info popups perfectly. What is the problem to put all the translated help file in this folder (with a language code subfolder, like nl-NL) and to choose the right help files throught the help link?
I think this is far more better than pointing to a half translated webpage. It is absolutely not user friendly.

teo, we will surely localize the popup message from the first image.. we just forgot it smile.gif thanks for your help.
"Help" won't be translated - at least in this version - just because the internal help is in english.
We want the "About" window to remain in english.

urko, the simple reason why we don't want to include the translated help documentation inside the extension is packet size. DTA is already 430KB, if we also add 28 (languages) * 5-6KB (help size, zipped) the extension could become an undownloadable monster biggrin.gif
We will modify the link from the generic http://www.downthemall.net/ into http://www.downthemall.net/howto/howto/, you are completely right.
And we're also planning - for the very next version - to give a different "localized" link instead of the english stardard one, too. When this will be accomplished, than the "Help" label will be obviously localized too.

thanks for your interest. really.

It's not good idea IMHO. If "Help!" will be in english it mean that internal help is in english? Belive me - NO!

Also no good idea IMHO. "Privacy notice" are translated. If you translated name of language should be translated also "translated by" See my picture how now this look! It' curious. Why button "Close this window" not translated? If you want remain About window in english, remain all! I have ready to use about.xul and about.dtd files. I attached this files.

I strongly agree with Teo!
If you want to keep the "about" dialog in english(wrong choise if you ask me) it should be entirely in english, otherwise it just doesn't look right.
As much as for the help files: i understand the size issue.. but in that case i think that ALL help files should be online (including the english help) and the extension should have only links to the pages.
What's the use of having english help files anyway if somebody doesn't speak english and can not read them? that would help you reduce the file size more even btw...

No, it's not dead, it's just restructuring.
  • I'm a developer now.
  • Repository, Bugtracker are in progress of being migrated to different locations (Subversion + Trac).
  • Code is revised and/or rewritten (to get ridd of all those nasty little bugs, and fix performance bottlenecks).
This all requires time, and time is somewhat rare these months. But the situation will get better soon.

To check the new repository (public, read-only subversion)
http://code.downthemall.net/repos/trunk/

Some nightlies, which are not nearly stable, you've been warned..
http://code.downthemall.net/nightly/
This does not mean that you should start translations. wink.gif

Finnish (fi-FI) translation now fixed and tested:

http://www.babelzilla.org/index.php?option...amp;language=21

Or:
[EDIT] attachment removed

including locales is not necessary in postings, the developer will pick it up straight from the WTS. It is a good habit for translators though to keep a local copy
