welcomeani.gif back with this port of FEBE for Tbird (I suppose)

mmmh... would you please tell us if a portion of the strings from FEBE can be reused for this one? It would spare work somewhat.

Greetings translators!

TEBE is a port of my FEBE extension to Thunderbird. The locales are similar (but not identical) to FEBE's. I did not include the locales in the upload because I'm not sure of the status of all the current FEBE translators. However, the FEBE locals might be a good starting point for translators that don't want to start from scratch.

As always, your help is tremendously appreciated.

nuh..we do have the files here.. i guess the WTS doesn't accept them for TEBE because the string labels are different.
anyway, we'll survive smile.gif

smile.gif @ translators
If you have already a translation for FEBE in your language, then you can have approx. 75% of the job done easily doing this

1. Download all your locale FEBE files
2. rename them all, changing febe to tebe
3. Open every file with your favourite text editor and use the find/replace function to change every entity name containing febe to tebe
Also, adjust every FEBE string fro TEBE
4. Upload your files on your locale TEBE page

5. Now you have just to translate a limited number of new strings

closedeyes.gif @Chuck please note you have duplicate strings in tebe.dtd and tebeWelcome.dtd. Seems useless to me.

Oops ... you are correct. I am phasing out the "tebeWelcome.dtd". It will not be used in the public release. Please disregard this file. Should I remove it from en-US and re-upload?

I think will be better upload new release now. Not all translators reading posts in the this topic.

What translators have to translate in the 'TEBEwelcome[en-US].html'?

I'm going to remove the online welcome page for TEBE. It's too much trouble. I'll have a xul window open instead. The entities for this window are in tebe.dtd. I've removed the tebeWelcome.dtd, tebeWelcome.properties, and TEBEwelcome[en-US].html from the upload. (Which I'll update in a few minutes from now.)

Edit: Upload done.

ops.gif I am very sorry, I let you put something wrong
in tebe.properties, the curly brackets around the guid must be removed in case of pseudomail ID
extensions.{TEBE@guid.customsoftwareconsult.com}.description= TEBE - Backup your Thunderbird data
>> extensions.TEBE@guid.customsoftwareconsult.com.description= TEBE - Backup your Thunderbird data

and obviously accordingly in default/preferences/prefs.js

pref("extensions.{TEBE@guid.customsoftwareconsult.com}.description", "chrome://tebe/locale/tebe.properties");
>> pref("extensions.TEBE@guid.customsoftwareconsult.com.description", "chrome://tebe/locale/tebe.properties");

Sorry again. Never trust completely a goofy guy closedeyes.gif

An exclamation mark is missing after "Congratulations" in tebeWelcome.text1 (tebe.dtd)

EDIT
After a brief testing i noticed that the terms for a free account on BOX.net have changed so i can't test the interaction with the service.
I understand that this is a beta but i don't know if you have noticed that if a user opts for saving his box.net account information then the only way to change that, is to clear TEBE preferences all together. The option on the box.net account tab does not work.
Plus, I'm currently testing on ubuntu 8.10 and Shredder and though i got the warning for reloading the program after clearing up the preferences, it failed to do so (but as far as i can see everything works fine, which means it doesn't HAVE to reload scredder)

Another tiny one:
tebe.help_33.text2: "Note: Backup on shutdown happens only when the browser quits, not when a restart is performed."

Plus, there's a lot of empty strings, WTS is allergic to empty strings for the time being biggrin.gif, is it safe to fill them up with "%NOTUSED%" ?

Sure. I will probably get rid of them eventually, but that will certainly work for the time being.

I didn't realize Box.net changed anything. I'll check into that and the other items you mentioned. Thanks!

@Shadoefax: I just realized that though i promised to do so, i never provided the AMO strings for FEBE and CLEO .. ops.gif
Since TEBE is not yet on AMO, I'm attaching here a file with the AMO strings for FEBE, CLEO and OPIE for your convenience.

Hi ShadoeFax,

Just a tiny problem notification

"tebeWelcome.text3b
If you are upgrading from a previous TEBE version you should clear your previous settings. Go to Tools TEBE TEBE Options Debug Clear TEBE preferences."

and

"tebeWelcome.text2
If this is a new installation, you will need to setup some options before you can create a backup. Go to Tools TEBE TEBE Options. The only option that absolutely must be set is your Backup destination directory under the Directory tab. You may want to explore the many other options while you're there, though."

I think you've forgotten to put '>' symbols...

and

"tebeWelcome.installs
English language installs"

I think you've forgotten to put the same note for translators that you put for FEBE.

pt-BR translation added... I just had a problem with percent counters (according to Goofy they are not fully trustful) after uploading FEBE adapted strings...

Thank you for the attention
