Thanks for the query.

Print Edit version 5.5 is designed to improve the usability of the Format command -- to provide more properties (and parameters on some properties) for experienced users -- and to provide Quick Styles for inexperienced or casual users.

There are 5 Quick Styles -- Plain Text, No Decoration, Pack Boxes, Fit to Content and Arrange Boxes -- which do the following:

Plain Text -- sets black text on white background; standardises font family, font size and line height; and left aligns text.

No Decoration -- removes borders and outlines from boxes; removes bold, italic, underline, overline and line-through from text;
removes vertical align offsets (mainly used for subscripts and superscripts); and removes list bullets.

(For the other three Quick Styles, the user needs to have some concept of "blocks of content", for example, a paragraph or a column or an image.)

Pack Boxes -- removes margins and padding around boxes (i.e. packing boxes closer together); collapses dual borders between table cells to single border;
and makes all overflow text visible.

Fit to Content -- re-sizes boxes to fit the size of the content they contain.

Arrange Boxes -- re-arranges the blocks of content (removes or adds left/right justification) with non-block text free flowing around these blocks.

I tried to choose names for these Quick Styles that inexperienced users would understand (at least to some extent). Clearly, in the case of "Pack Boxes", this has not been successful. I think there are two problems -- the word "pack" has several meanings and doesn't really convey what is going on here -- most casual users will not be familiar with html/css "box" models (but hopefull will understand "blocks" of content).

Therefore, I have decided to:
- change "Pack Boxes" to "Reduce Margins"
- change "Arrange Boxes" to "Arrange Blocks" (another possibility would be "Arrange Content" but I think it has less meaning).

Both these changes are incorporated in Print Edit 5.5b3 which will be uploaded shortly.

Please let me know if anything is unclear or could be better.

Regards,

Dave

Brazilian Portuguese locale is released, but I couldn't translate the "Quick Styles" string, because it is hard-coded in "printedit-browser-overlay.xul", line 161.

Version 5.5b4 has provided &printedit.quickstyles; in place of hard-coded "Quick Styles".
Dwdev, are aware that version 5.6b1 has reverted it to the hard-coded string?

German locale (de) updated, tested and released.

Same problem here: "Quick Styles" is still hard-coded.

Hi dwdev,

I updated the German locale, but I'm having troubles with testing it. There is some error in a xul file. I think it was printedit-options.xul line 23_1. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix or skip this.

@all: Does anybody else experienced this problem?

I am nor sure, but the comment in line 77 might be the problem.
<!--!-- Options Dialog Box -->
Download the file. Change it to <!-- Options Dialog Box -->. If it solves the problem, upload the file.

Hi erglo,

Joergen is right.

When I uploaded version 8.5b1, in the "de" locale, the comment in line 76 was missing a leading "<", so it looked like:

!-- Options Dialog Box -->

instead of:

<!-- Options Dialog Box -->

Joergen's suggestion will fix the problem, or if you wish, I can correct and upload 8.5b2.

Regards,

dw-dev

Hi guys,

you were right! It was indeed the extra '!--' strings in the comment. As far as I knew, the initial '<!--' would mark everything followed by these strings as a comment until '-->' mark's it's end, even if there is a '!' in between. Apparently I was wrong. Well, you never stop learning something new! smile.gif

Anyhow, the testing was successful and the localization is ok. I uploaded the localized file, rechecked it (just to be sure ;) and released it.

Thanks again for the help!

Hi dwdev,

I would ask you to remember to add Romanian section in install.rdf

CODE
       <em:localized> <!-- Romanian -->
            <Description>
                <em:locale>ro</em:locale>
                <em:name>Print Edit</em:name>
                <em:description>Previzualizare cu posibilitate de editare a conținutului.</em:description>
                <em:translator>Cătălin Zamfirescu (x10)</em:translator>
            </Description>
        </em:localized>

Thanks
