The italian locale is on testing phase. we hope to release it soon
I found some missed localizations, but after reading the discussion in the french forum, I think this will be fixed in the next release
Bye bye
Ukrainian translation can be tested. Here is the locales file (attached).
Hi
stakats,
I have a little request
In zotero.properties file you use the entity
itemFields.company -->
Company for both software and film companies.
In italian these two kind of companies have different names. Would you please consider the possibility to have two separate entities?
Thanks in advance, anything you decide

I had this funky idea, why not make this extension work for firefox 1.5.0.8?
Cause I would love to use it, but I hate firefox 2.0

Zotero relies on Firefox 2.0's implementation of sqlite as a data store.

Hi Stakats,
I've got a little question about one string in the file "zotero.properties", line 246 :
The string is : "Search in progress - press wait". Is it the right sentence or should not it be "Search in progress - please wait"?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

[GoofyEdit] @ translators please consider the string ""Search in progress - press wait" should be translated as "Search in progress - please wait"

Hi stakats,
I have just joined babelzilla after receiving an invitation from Dan Stillman which followed a message I posted in the Zotero forum.
I am an Italian user of Zotero and by the way I am a librarian and user of bibliographic tools. I have found out that the Italian localization of Zotero could be improved because there are some mistakes and inconsistencies. I am writing to propose to modify the actual localization.
Can my amendments be accepted? How do you manage possible conflicts between different versions of the same localization?
Best wishes
Pierfranco

You are welcome if you can improve a translation. First thing to do is contact by PM the little Italian team (click on their names on
this page) that already translated, join the team and adjust your common work.

This is a message for Pedro, Andrea and joolian who work in the Italian team which provided the Italian translation of extension Zotero.
I have post a message last Friday in this forum and I vae received a reply by Goofy who advised me to contact Pedro, Andrea and joolian by PM for proposing them to join, but since I am a newcomer I can't yet use this feature. So I will post my message to them using the forum. I will write in Italian since I presume this is their native language.
Ciao Pedro, Andrea e joolian,
Grazie
Ciao
Pierfranco

Ok I have just redirected your message with a PM to the Italian team so I hope they will soon welcome your collaboration here.

Ciao e grazie!

P.S.
A special thanks to Goofy for his PM advising about Pierfranco's post!

I have registered and did the Hungarian translation for the project, it is ready. Is there any way to test it in real life in Zotero to check for any unforeseen inconsistencies before it is officially incorporated in the code? What else do I have to do to push the translation to the next release?

Thanks for your hard work. We'll be releasing a new version of Zotero (1.0 RC1) in the next two weeks, and I hope to have an updated set of strings to be translated in the next couple of days. -Sean
I think there's some problem with the upload of the new version
I received four notification but there aren't files in the WTS
If the problem persist can you attach here the .xpi file? I will work on my locale tonight
Thanks in advance

The string appears in the "Document Preferences" dialog that pops up when using the Word or OpenOffice plugins. There are several other localizable strings in that dialog box. For easy reference, I'll link to an image below.
Thanks for all of your good translating work.

One more problem: when trying to edit zotero.properties in the WTS the browser starts loading the page but never finishes (browser does not crash though). Am I the only one having this problem? Downloading zotero.properties works fine.

- The developer will pick it up from the WTS when he has the time for it (usually pretty soon after release). He will have received a notification of your locale being released.
- If there are new strings to translate, the dev might upload it to BabelZilla. If the difference between RC2 and RC3 is merely code (e.g. a bug fix) he might not upload it here.

Hi,
There's something that seems a little strange at the line 26 of the preferences.dtd file, in the middle of the search preferences :
Full-Text Cache
Should'nt it be :
Full-Text Search ?
Hi
stakats.
I am here again
I downloaded and translated the rc3 version of Zotero and I have seen that all my requests are solved... great work!

It remains only:
- the description... I recommend you this simply tutorial to translate it

I downloaded the rc3 version from Zotero's home page and I manually edited the italian files

I made this just for curiosity, I think we should wait the new

Hi stakats,

Not all!
Still not localized:
1. 'There was an error starting Zotero' from 'overlay.xul' and 'overlay.js' files
2. 'Error initializing Zotero database' from 'schema.js' file
3. All alerts from 'bundle.js' file
4. Extension description.
I found problem with keyboard and shortcuts. In the many countries national characters are typing with right [Alt] key. In the Zotero are used shortcuts [Alt+character] In the Polish keyboard we use L, O, and N (which are used in Zotero as shortcuts) for Polish diacritic characters. This causes bug. I can't write Polish national characters in Zotero. Please change [Alt] key to another one.

We're ready to upload a new RC to BabelZilla with the last few unlocalized strings ready to translate. But first I need some help. Each time that we upload a new version of the extension, BabelZilla either loses all of the previous translations, or else it shows the translations as 100% done even when they're only partially complete. Could somebody please provide detailed instructions on exactly what to do on our end? Should we prepare an extension including all of the already translated strings on BabelZilla? Or submit one with just en-US? What is the best workflow to ensure that BabelZilla carries over all of the previous work? You all have done such great work, and I want to make things as easy as possible for you in the future. Thank you. -Sean
Hi Sean

First thing to do is download all locales from the wts (there is a handy link for that)
I attach them here
Click to view attachmentso that translator's work can be easily re-uploaded in case some weird thing happens with the coming update.
Second you should save translator's list as provided in your "Manage my extensions" page. Sometimes there are (again) strange things happening and translator's registration are lost.
Now you have to follow a 17-step guide
1. drop all provided locales (except en-US) in the new version of your extension
So only the en-US is updated with the most recent strings
5. check carefully that every locale is mentioned in the chrome.manifest. It is the more important point because the WTS uses their path to register them.
17. You can submit your new build.
This is not all!!
Before dropping all locales in the new extension version you have to remove from all locales not translated lines (they are in English) and changed by you lines. If you change in the en-US locale entity (name or content) you have to remove this entity from each locale. Not add new entity! These new should be only in the en-US locale. Its very important include all locales, even they have some strings translated. Remember as Goofy mentioned - don't forget in the chrome.manifest insert all registered locales.
Now after uploading will be displayed proper percentage and translators will be see in WTS yellow textboxes which signifying non translated strings.
Alternatively, you can follow
the tutorial on this
@markh,
This is very good tutorial for begining. Now all untranslated string are filled by their English counterparts and developer MUST remove them from locales.
