Hi boys and girls, smile.gif

I'm looking for Chinese translators for "mid" Mozilla Internet Dictionary.
If someone of you feels like, come and translate it.

I would be also happy to add more Chinese dictionary related site to "mid" and you possibly can suggest me good dictionaries of this kind to include.

Many thanks in advance

smile.gif Hey saster,

It's a great extension. I'd like to do my bit. But it's difficult to translate it to Chinese as it is. mellow.gif

As you know, in Option dialog, the dictionary types listed in MID are sorted by initials. For example, The tab B contains Babylon and Bulgarian and so on.

[attachmentid=2235]

But in Chinese, The words Babylon and Bulgarian are quite different. It results in them sorting in two tabs. This occurs on many words that makes the tab bar would be so long that occupied spaces of the dictionary selecting column on right. mellow.gif

[attachmentid=2234]

I think it'll be better if the dictionary types are sorted by initials in English instead of the localized initials. smile.gif

Boy, quite a problem! thank you for your explanation, i didn't think of it earlier.
Then my tabbed dictionary selection dialog is almost useless in Chinese, I think.
Other 'letter-writer' languages are OK this way, and they already use it.

And what if you translate the type (for example)
Swedish to Swedish (瑞典语)? I mean you append the Chinese in parentheses of some kind to the English original?

What do you think?

Attila

Hello Attila,

Yay, it's the way and realy a huge work too, with so many parentheses. mellow.gif

On the advice of yours, Simplified Chinese localization has been updated and released on WTS. In Addition, there are several on-line Chinese-English dictionaries below. smile.gif

Hi fishbone smile.gif

May I ask something about the above dictionaries?

I try to use these query strings (URI-s)

http://dict.cn/en/search/?q=word
http://www.iciba.com/search?s=word
http://www.stardict.cn/query.php?q=word

But I can't tell whether the results are in Simplified or in Traditional form.
Could you please help me in this. rolleyes.gif

Hallo Attila,

Yes, The second URI (http://www.iciba.com/search?s=word) is well, but the link as

http://dict.cn/search/?q=word

will be better than the first one (http://dict.cn/en/search/?q=word).

The last one (http://www.stardict.cn/query.php?q=word) will work fine, and for more control the registration is required.

All above will receive the Simplified Chinese result. smile.gif

Hi boys!

I added the Chinese dictionaries you've sent me. Please check them, I think they're OK, but it is better save than sory.

Note: your locale/zh-CN/contents.rdf wrongy says it is en-US. I corrected it in my copy.

I attach the release candidate:

Yes, it works fine. And thanks for the correction. smile.gif

Additionally, I'm so sorry that, for some reasons, I will not update all my localizations. If you need a translator, please contact with the additional translator(s) on WTS for your extension.
