Hi Sparky
I am testing the Danish translation of Status-4-Evar - Ver. 2011.01.17.
I can't find the Tab settings anywhere in the UI. Haven't you implementet that part yet?
Added later: The tool tip for the Close button at the add-on bar is in English. It should be possible to translate that string too.

Hi,
had to re-release the German locale for a last minute correction.
In case you had already downloaded it, please download again...

> I can't find the Tab settings anywhere in the UI. Haven't you implemented that part yet?
I thought the same. I guess these are for future use ;-)
> Added later: The tool tip for the Close button at the add-on bar is in English. It should be possible to translate that string too.
This Close button is not added by Status-4-Evar, so it should be in the language of the Firefox browser.
For example: my Firefox 4 is in Dutch language, so the tooltip for this button is also in Dutch. There is no need for Status-4-Evar to include a translation for this.
I guess that you use an English version of Firefox 4, so this tooltip shows in English in your browser. However, I understand the confusion, because Status-4-Evar can also hide this button.

Just added a Dutch translation to this extension, because I do not (yet) like this status information in the location bar.
I also like the additional options this extension has, so keep up the good work ;-)

I did test the add-on in a Danish version of Firefox 4. The problem was, that this string wasn't translated yet. So I thought it was a part of Status-4-Evar.

Swedish locale (sv-SE) updated.
@Jørgen: Jag kan inte heller lista ut vad "Show background network status" innebär, men direktöversatte det till "Visa bakgrundsnätverksstatus". Det går nog inte att formulera om det särskilt mycket, utom möjligtvis till "Visa bakgrundens nätverksstatus" (vad nu det betyder

Was that an answer or the same question but in Swedish?
sparkybluefang - can you elaborate on what is the difference between "Show network status" and "Show background network status"?
I assume that it is not the same as "Show network status in background"...

While not being an official answer (Bluefang, please correct me if I'm wrong), I can guess its meaning by looking at the last addon version's release notes:
QUOTE ("Bluefang")
Version 2011.03.10.18b
* Fix some compatibility issues with 3rd party themes.
* Keep urlbar suggestion dropdown arrow visible.
* Add option to hide background/async/XHR network status.
* Implement a simple style editor for selecting progress colors and images.
* Fix toolbar progress settings.
* Add annotations to the status elements. #status4evar-status-text, #statusbar-display, and .urlbar-over-link-box will have a "type" attribute set to one of the following: link, network, network_xhr, status_chrome, status_content, status_content_default, or status_chrome_default.
So my guess is that it's a setting to toggle showing the network status for operations that don't cause a page refresh. I haven't tested it yet though.
On a side note, since some of the options may look quite cryptic to the average non-tech user, it would be nice to have tooltips with explanations in the Options pane.

Yes, that is exactly what it means.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XHRhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_%28programming%29I added that option for when you're showing network status in the URL bar. Some XHR status messages don't seem to be cleared when they finish, so they'll stick around for a while. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the extension or if it's a quirk in Firefox/web pages.
And some people just find it distracting, especially on sites like Google Maps / GMail.

That's not a bad idea. I'll do that in the next development cycle. If the descriptions end up being too long for tooltips, I'll put together a help dialog/page.

Hello,
in Options Progress tab an input box is next to the label text Image. The default value in the input box is hardcoded as none. This value should be localizable.

That is the CSS value "none", not the English word "none". I'll change it to just be blank.
Hi,
@sparkybluefang: In a German forum there was a request for an icon for the Add-on bar item in the Options toolbar. At the moment none is displayed because defined as empty null.png. Could you create an icon?

milupo

Spanish locale (es-ES) is now available. Tested and released.
Many thanks to the developer. This extension is a must-to-have in firefox 4.
Russian locale has been updated and released in WTS.

Hi Sparky Bluefang
I can't find these two strings in the GUI.
'Space' and 'Round'
The Danish translation of these two words depends of the context. Could you please explain where and in which context these words are used.

They are 2 of the CSS3
background-repeat keywords.
http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/#the-background-repeatThey are not in the UI because Firefox does not yet support them. But they eventually will appear in the background editor along with "Repeat" and "No Repeat".

Hey everyone, just a few comments:
* I accidentally uploaded the most recent update with the missing locale strings as "replaced" instead of "skipped". Sorry about that. I think the only locale that had strings marked as untranslated was bg-BG.
* I've gotten a couple of comments about the download progress strings (overlay.properties) not being correct. Please take a moment to double check that you're using the correct plural form in your translation. Thanks
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Local...ion_and_Plurals
Hi Sparky,
Personally, i thank you very much for your efforts to offer us such an excellent work..!
Keep walking!
I noticed a small glitch in the localization structure of the extension:
In accordance to Mozilla standards, in "install.rdf", you should put the entries
"<em:translator> name </em:translator>" within the section
"<em:localized><Description> </Description></em:localized>" , because now no one
of the translators appear in "about" window (FF 5).
I did the job for you, to save you a little time to devote it in the real code!
Also, i have a question:
In FF5 where i tested the new strings, i saw only those about the progress color for downloads.
The other two strings aren't applicable in this version of Firefox?
Thanks

The strings to translate were a deja-vu for me, so I was surprised about it. Then I looked at the forum for an explanation and read about a crash of the website.
That would explain why I got an email asking me to update the translation again.
Fortunately I had tested my translation in my own Firefox profile, so I could recover my translation quite easily by copying the extension from my profile and extract the xpi-file (through 7-zip). Then I copied and pasted the translated strings in the online translation interface again, so the Dutch translation is up-to-date again.
I have also other translations inside this extension file, so this might be helpful to get the other translations back. I have just checked the Geman and Spanish translations and these all have a translation for status4evar.download.color.paused.label
To me that means that these are the already updated translation files.
That is why I have zipped this file and attached it here on the forum. This includes all locales, so other translators can have a look whether their translations are already inside:

Hello sparkybluefang, for my three languages (dsb, eo, hsb) is all OK again now. If you was able to correct it yourself, you may give a hint to Giorgio Maone, the author of Noscript. He has the same issue with Noscript. There 15 strings are shown too much.

Admin:
To avoid stepping on someone's toes and/or ending up with parallel translations, we
recommend that you contact the existing translator(s) by sending him/her/them a
message asking if it's OK to join in or take over the translation.
Do that, give the translators a week or two to respond, and if they haven't answered
you, just contact me or any other admin, explain that you have tried to get in touch
with the existing translators for that add-on to no avail, and ask us to open the translation.

I kind of figured that was the protocol, but I wasn't sure. The [somewhat limited] documentation is spread between wiki pages, FAQs, and tutorials, so it's kind of hard to find.
But in the case of DE, I haven't seen updates since July 2011 (according to my version control logs). And since then, I have sent out numerous update requests, to all translators, as part of the update process.

One of the translators logged in very recently, which suggests that he/she might be reachable through an e-mail or a PM. And besides that, it's common courtesy and basic politeness to ask someone before taking over and amending to/changing that persons work. To me that is self-evident even if it isn't scribbled down somewhere.
The main problem is that if one of the two previously registered translators suddenly uploads an updated translation of their own, erasing what
Endor8 has done, it may lower the quality of your product for the de locale users, as they might experience apparent random changes of the translation from version to version.
I agree that the documentation situation has somewhat decayed.'

To prevent any further discussion I removed my 11 translated strings.
Now it is all like it was before I requested to be added as translator.

And, what has he done? Nothing. As sparkybluefang wrote, nobody translated since July. And the other registered thranslator has been in July the last time. You should be glad like sparkyblufang that someone looks after the German translation of Status-4-Evar. I receive an e-mail from Babelzilla if there are new strings to translate - and I think other translators as well. And, did the registered translators react? No, not at all.

It's nonsense. To see, what is new the translators must have a look on Babelzilla. And if they see that there are no untranslated strings they do not upload new files. And it is not OK that you insinuate Endor8 that his translations are of less quality. Also you should work in the interest of the extension author. And the extension author sparkybluefang has been wishing a completion of the German translation for a long time. Consider that extension authors and translators are the most important people here. Without them Babelzilla must be closed any time.
By such a politics like you do you drive both translators and extension authors away. Think it over.

hey guys cool down. I haven't seen any insinuation that Endor8 has done low quality job, Lakrits just stated what should be minimum carefulness about adding new translators in charge.
But now I can see the German team for this extension is lead by Archaeopteryx so we have no doubt he can perfectly manage and choose the best option for the benefit of the translation without any interference from us.
