It was the responsabile !
When I tried to create the new account(s) the first time, I added the "@gmail.com"
I tried again 2 minutes ago without adding it (as suggested), and it worked fine !
I noticed also another thing: If I update the extension, but in the previous version I had inserted the "@gmail.com" I have to remove it [renaming the account(s)] before updating, otherwise the extension 'doesn't see' the existing accounts

That's definitely a relief that it is working now. Thanks for the reply back about that.
Yeah the "@gmail.com" may have been creating problems checking mail for you in past versions as well (not sure if you were having issues with that). I guess it would be nice for the extension to let the user know why exactly the account was not added.
Also, you may be seeing some not correct background color under the Preferences... this will be resolved before the public release as well.
