According to me, the name of an extension should be always the same. For example, Microsoft's OS is called Windows everywhere and not Fenêtres in french.

If the name of the extension is always the same, then what is the purpose of the .dtd file? Where does it come into play?

Nevermind ... I just figured it out. It is the line that descibes the extension in the extension box. huh.gif

Asterxx, I downloaded and installed your nl_NL.zip to my extension, but got an error during the installation. MatrixIsAllOver had a similar error in his it-IT translation, but found a way to fix it. Do you know what the problem might be?

Dear Chuck,
currently, in spite the localization rules indicate to use the UTF8 to conform to the Mozilla standard for encoding and it worked on DP Alpha2, tests of many same localizations on Official Firefox 1.0.6 show that UTF8 breaks on that build blink.gif
Fortunately it's possible to switch the DTD encoding file between UTF8 and ANSI (or 8 Bit)
So, the translators who need to write accented vocal and/or special characters may write normally and before saving the DTD file they may switch from UTF8 to ANSI! biggrin.gif
Obviously, the encodind don't have to be changed after!!!

Can anyone help me with an he-IL (Hebrew) localization? I have the files translated but get an error during install. It is complaining about the .dtd file.

I'm also still having problems installing the nl-NL version.

Thanks in advance.

I'll dig into it. My first guess, no UTF-8 coding, but I'm not sure

I tried to 'see' the dtd file, but my problem is that I don't know at all the Hebrew language sad.gif
I try to explain better using an Italian example:
In case I have to translate "it will open" I start my translation using UTF8 encoding, therefore I'll write "aprirà", but before saving the file I'll change the encoding to ANSI-> "aprirà "; and this method works fine! wink.gif
Well, if I open one dtd file using ANSI, I copy "aprirà" and I save the file so (using ANSI), certainly there will be one error sad.gif
The solution for this problem it's easy in "my" case, 'cause I can see the accented (and 'wrong') vocals and/or the special characters, but I don't know at all the Hebrew language sad.gif
Sorry

I realy don't know. The dutch version works great on my pc. I can't reproduce this problem (and I'm not an developer sad.gif , I'm sorry)
The only thing is:

CODE

<!ENTITY goto.bottom.label      "Naar pagina einde gaan">
<!ENTITY goto.bottom.accesskey  "B">
<!ENTITY backto.top.label       "Naar boven gaan">
<!ENTITY backto.top.accesskey   "T">

The B and the T are not correct for dutch, but not a problem I think

It could be E and B

I realy don't know

Wait, I noticed this one:
CODE

<Description>
<em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>0.7</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>1.0.6</em:maxVersion>
</Description>

Notice the
<em:maxVersion>1.0.6</em:maxVersion>

When someone has an idea huh.gif

Hi
welcome on BabelZilla biggrin.gif
Thanks for your contribution, but you don't need to attach your zipped localization wink.gif

Please, take a look at the following informations:
What is the Web Translation System (WTS) ?
How to add a translation ?
How to upload the locale files I already have on my computer ?
How to register as official translator if the extension already contains my localization ?
How to register as official translator if the extension is without my localization ?

Thanks for your collaboration smile.gif

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of writing 'Back to Top' version 3.0. This version will require much more translation than previous versions. I will post it here when it is ready to go. Thank you all in advance for your help!

smile.gif thanks for information, you are welcome with the new version.

To avoid any problem with existing locales when you update, please :
- download all your locales and keep a local copy (in case it is not already done)
- include in your new submission all the locales you already have in hand
- remember you also have to add locale lines in the install.rdf and/or chrome.manifest file, in order for the WTS to take included locales into account.

See you soon smile.gif

is this expected behavior?
or fixed in 3.0 if available soon?

Victory,
It is not a totally unexpected behavior, but it is an undesirable behavior. The changes are initiated with an “onload” event which only happens when a page is opened or reloaded. I am playing with the “onchange” event which I hope to have worked out for version 3.0. This and a few other problems must be worked out before I can release the new version.

If you like, you may follow the progress (and maybe offer some suggestions) on my MozillaZine Forum post.. A few other developers there are graciously helping me resolve some programming issues.

Hi All,

I have Back to Top v3.0 beta 1 ready for translation. With the new WTF, I'm unsure if I need to upload the entire extension or just the locale files. To be safe, I'll offer both: huh.gif
