Hi,

Just uploaded a new version of VDH, 5.1.0z1, with 42 new strings, corresponding to new features. I hope to be able to submit the version to Mozilla mid next week.

Thanks for your work on VDH.

Hi mig

You forgot to send out a notification to the localizers?
BabelZilla build a corrupt localized version of the add-on. So it's not possible to test our localizations.

The builder of the test file has been reworked to be able to cope with .json files, and I think there is a minor bug: the .xpi extension is not added. If you add it manually, you should be able to test the file.

*EDIT*: you seem to be right. I have downloaded the test xpi but it is indeed corrupted now.

I will upload a new version soon, there are a couple of new strings anyway.

I'll make sure to checkout for translators notifications, i thought it was automatic.

Thanks,

It is, unless you tick ‘minor update’, which assumes there are no new or altered strings. Small changes should not be marked as minor.

By the way, the test xpi generator should work now.

5.1.0z3 has just been uploaded.

I do not expect string changes for the release of the official 5.1.0 which should be submitted to mozilla in a couple of days.

Remember that you can get the credit for your translation work by translating those string tags: locale-credits-translators, locale-credits-urls

Thanks,

Hi mig

Could you please explain this string: "Force H264 tunning in aggregation"?

Not easily smile.gif

When doing aggregation (mixing sound and video into a single file), if the original video codec is h264, checking this parameter will make the video stream to be reencoded. This is a workaround for a bug on some Windows player.

We don't expect user to understand what it is by just reading the parameter name. It more something for support to tell users "please uncheck parameter 'Force H264 tunning in aggregation'"

It might be helpful if you reflect these extra information into the string (may be on a second line):

'Force H264 tunning in aggregation ...'
"... (not recommended for all players)"
"... (workaround for a bug in some Windows players)"
etc.

I know, we shouldn't be overcrowding each string with lengthy explanations however this time it looks like function behind the string is special (i.e H264 tunning; I even first thought it was tuning).

Sinan.

Yes, but if we go into that level of explanation for this parameter (which concerns probably less than 0.1% of the users), we'll need to do so in many other places.

I'd prefer, when the code is more stabilized, having a separate manual page with all the details, rather then growing the XPI too much.

Yes, i noticed and fixed the "tunning" typo when doing the fr translation.

Thanks.

Just uploaded 5.2.0z2. It adds 11 strings from 5.2.0z1.

This should be the last 5.2 upload to Babelzilla before the official submission on 5.2.0 to Mozilla later this week.

I'll do my best, that's not an easy one smile.gif

Each time we receive a chunk (a video piece), we measure the time since we got the previous chunk. We keep track of the mean value of those durations, let's call it T. If we haven't received a chunk after T*<chunk.period-factor/100>,
We consider that the video source is not emitting anymore and we consider the capture as done.

So for instance, if the mean time between chunks is 20 seconds, chunk.period-factor is 250, and we have not received a chunk since 20*2.5=50 seconds, we timeout.

At the very beginning, before we get a second chunk, we don't have a mean time yet, so we use chunk.initial-period instead.

Hope this helps,
/mig

Hi all !

I just uploaded 5.4.0z3. Unless something special happens, this will be the version submitted to Mozilla as 5.4.0 (with of course the latest locales integrated). The submission should happen in the next few days.

Only additions since 5.4.0z2:

ui.adp.grey= Taint ADP variants
ui.adp.tag= Tag ADP variants

This is to distinguish in the list of video variants, the ones (ADP) that require the converter to generate a single proper file:
- grey: the entry background is light grey,
- tag: the word ADP appears as a tag in the entry.

Thanks !

Hi,

I just uploaded Video DownloadHelper 5.5.0bz1.

As usual i created a en-US only release to upload to BZ to make sure no translation is overwritten, but it looks like BZ reset all translations to 0 strings :(

Please DO NOT update/recreate your locales while i see with BZ support what's going on.

Thanks,
/mig
