1. Extension saved to tmp directory pages with bad encoding - don't write properly international characters
Unfortunately at the moment Update Scanner only supports Unicode (UTF-8) encoding when saving pages. The page you attached is ISO-8859-2:
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-2" />
For an example of a UTF-8 encoded Polish page, try http://www.google.pl/firefox
- this should work. A future version will detect the type of encoding and save the files accordingly, but at the moment it just assumes UTF-8, since this seems the most common and inclusive international encoding.
2. Mix headers (original and extension information) - see attached screenshot
I've worked out how to fix this by adding a <div style="position:relative"> below the Update Scanner header. I'll fix this soon - thanks for showing me this!
3. 'Update Scanner' from 'alert.xul' file (line 23) should be translated
I'm not sure about this - the extension's name is "Update Scanner", so I thought it best to keep this name in English. On the amo website, the extension is always called "Update Scanner", no matter which language the page is translated into. To give an example, what is the Polish name of the browser you're using - Firefox or Ogień-Lis? (please forgive my Polish). Opinions on this would be appreciated though.
Thanks very much for your thoughts Teo.
